Dear Paul,
I just read your book Fail-Proof Your Business.
Here's my story.
I hold an MBA and worked in healthcare for 12 years, before starting my own childcare business, with an investment of $850,000, which included building a new facility, land, outfitting, etc.
After 5 years of operation, I'm trying to sell. I lost the fire to run the business sometime ago, trying to constantly fight to build up the business, only to run up against the competition, a misread on my part in identifying the socioeconomic population where the center is located and the plain difficulty in running my own business.
My point is, had I read your book before I started my business, it might not have prevented me from going down the road of entrepreneurship, but I would have taken a closer look at the population I was going to serve and how I
would be craft my business accordingly. And perhaps myself.
Finally, I have attracted a few potential buyers at this point. Hopefully, at age 50, I will witness a sale at some point in the future and be wiser for this experience. As you pointed out in your book, us older folks don't have a lot of time to make up for these types of miscalculations.
I really enjoyed your book. It seems many of the books today only address the success stories, but few dare to go where your book went, looking at not making it or at least having to give up the dream. I had been looking for
just such a book for sometime.
Signed
Sadder But Wiser
